Care Free Medical

Care Free provides high-quality medical, dental, optometry and behavioral health care to underinsured and uninsured adults and children across Metro Lansing. Services encompass acute and chronic disease management for both adults and children, comprehensive well-child care, and medical management of complex psychiatric diagnoses for adults. They also offer psychotherapy services, health education, and nutrition counseling. The clinic provides affordable prescription services, vaccinations, laceration repairs, skin biopsies, joint injections, Pap smears, and STD testing. They also facilitate referrals to necessary medical specialists, ensuring holistic and continuous care.

Care Free Optometry

Services include comprehensive wellness vision exams and ocular health medical care for patients managing conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, connective tissue disorders, HIV, Hepatitis, and neuroocular disorders, as well as those taking high-risk medications. They specialize in glaucoma, urgent infections, cataracts, retinal disorders, and inflammatory conditions. Additionally, they offer care for eye injuries and pre and post-operative care for patients referred to local surgeons.

Care Free Dental

With tens of thousands of people in Metro Lansing unable to afford regular oral health care, dental issues often escalate to the point where patients must visit local emergency departments. In these cases, medical staff can only prescribe pain medicine and antibiotics, unable to address the root cause of the problem. Care Free Medical’s dental clinic seeks to prevent these costly emergency visits by offering low-cost preventive hygiene care, supported by a compassionate group of volunteer dentists. The clinic provides a range of services, including dental cleanings, exams, fillings, bite splints, extractions, and education on preventive care. However, Care Free Medical does not offer bridges, crowns, braces, dentures, or root canals.

Citizens for Prison Reform

Citizens for Prison Reform (CPR) is a statewide, grassroots, family-run nonprofit organization founded in 2011. CPR began out of prison family’s experiences, including the inability to navigate the system, being walled off, shame, stigma, and the financial and emotional burdens that incarceration creates for those supporting a prisoner.

Family engagement is proven to improve outcomes for people in prison, yet there are little to no resources dedicated to helping families and their loved ones navigate the system or advocate for an incarcerated loved one.
